Lost Ducklings
I know that nobody can see me. I will take a shortcut through this yard.
Oops, that was a dead end. Let's go this way. Be sure to stay close by.
Don't dawdle you will get lost.
I hear you mom, "We are coming."
Which way did she go?
She is going back to the lake.
"What shall we do? She isn't waiting! Let's stay right here. We can camp out under a tree."
And they did just that. We were worried that the animals that roam the area at night would get them. We left all of the lights on. In the morning there were no ducks to be found; there were no feathers either. I like to think that the family is back together again....all twelve ducklings and their mom!
I am participating in Outdoor Wednesday hosted by Susan at A Southern Daydreamer.
I have recently noticed that there is a site called Backyard Birds: Bird Feeders and Bird House Reviews that is using the title and introductory paragraph of Spoonful of Thyme Posts. They appear during a google search. The links they have do not go anywhere....all I can think is that they are trying to generate traffic...the reader thinks they are getting a Spoonful of Thyme post and they are not. They are stuck on a site selling bird feeders. I learned this from the reports I get from Google Alerts. Now to make them stop!!

This post is so sweet and cute too!:-) Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by the Back Porch.
What a sweet ducky show and tell. Great job. It has gotten to the point you cannot trust anyone. We all need to be more cautious and as some will take advantage of you. That is not good what you shared.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Little ducklings are such sweet little things!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics and captions, just too cute:@)
ReplyDeleteI always worry about those baby ducklings, there are so many predators. They're adorable!
ReplyDeleteAww, that's so sweet... and sweet of you to leave the lights on to keep away the predators.
ReplyDeleteCute post.
Babs
What a sweet post! God has to give those mama's instinct to keep up with all of those babies!
ReplyDeleteLove this post!! Last year we had two mallards and two hens that swam multiple times daily in our pool. We never could find their nests. Then one day, we had mama with 14 ducklings learning to swim. A week later, the other mama had 7 ducklings in the pool. They were so cute (but bad for the plaster). The two pair returned this year, but alas, a local cat must have gotten into their nest and destroyed the eggs.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your wonderful photos!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww...so fun. And those ducklings are so precious. I'm trying to imagine having 12 infants to care for all at once. That would be a lot.....smile.
ReplyDeleteDelightful!
ReplyDeleteSeriously cute...little fur balls!

I love ducks/ducklings:) This spring we were again surprised seeing ducks up the road ..in a ditch by a home that has water:) Merrily merrily swimming down road:)Cute pics Kate.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Kate. I love all the little ducklings in the spring. Wow, I'm sorry to read that someone is stealing material from your blog. I hope there is something you can do about it. Several blogs have taken my blog title as their own. They don't play nice.
ReplyDeleteAdorable, simply adorable post. See you next week.

ReplyDeleteThe are darling Kate. Fabulous photos. I'm very concerned and upset about someone stealing your stuff. Hope you can get it fixed and good luck.
ReplyDeleteI've been getting hits from some strange sites and when I go there, I don't see why they would click to my blog. Strange things out there......

This post is simply delightful, and sweet too!:-) Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post and pics. I love watching the ducklings on the shores of Lake Washington (Kirkland) and the Willamette River (Portland). One early summer I was teaching a cooking class near Lake Washingto with the door behind me open. As I glanced out the door, I saw a mother duck and her ducklings just stepping out onto the busy road to cross to the lake. There was no time to say anything to the class. I ran with wooden spoon waving wildly and got there in time to stop the cars in both directions while the little family safely crossed. WHEW! ...Susan
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Did you stop the folks from stealing your blog name? That burns me up!
ReplyDeleteThey are so adorable! Moms usually don't wander off like that.
ReplyDeleteReally not good that someone is stealing from your blog. Hope you get it straightened out!
